Most home sales, refinances and health department permit require a complete septic system inspection that includes a water testing of the drain fields by a licensed permitted septic pumper. It is extremely important to hire a septic pumping company with decades of experience and has the reputation to put you at ease.
Whether the tank is made of wood, plastic, fiberglass or concrete it is vital the inspector knows what to look for while inspecting the structural condition of these tanks as the flaws differ tremendously.
Other very important components of the tank include the inlet t-pipe, which slows down the flow of effluent into the tank and minimizes the disturbance of the solids. The outlet t-pipe is extremely important as it is the last stage of defense for the drain fields and prevents most of the heavy solids from discharging the tank. These t-pipes can be deteriorated or may have fallen to the bottom of the tank over time and must be replaced asap to maximize the efficiency of the system.
The baffle is a wall built into the tank that separates the solids from the solid (inlet) chamber from the water (outlet) chamber. This wall is the most important part of the tank and must be fully intact to operate properly.
We pride ourselves on giving an honest accurate evaluation on every inspection regardless of the outcome.
When a drain field backs up or overflows at the tank, this doesn’t necessarily mean failure. Some companies try to sell this as a failure when it simply means the effluent is not exiting the tank properly. We then recommend outflow line exploratory to determine the cause of the backup. This is one of our many specialties.
We have saved countless customers over the last 30 years the expense and headache of filing for permits, hiring a septic consultant and paying the exorbitant rates associated with a new drain field/leach line.
